Wonderoos Full Time Kit

Wonderoos Full Time Kit

Here at The Recycle Works, we ‘re always asking you for your feedback on our products and what else you’d like to see us offer.  We listen avidly and as a result we have just launched our new ‘Eco Babies’ section on the website!

Our first products are from the Wonderoo Nappy Range and we’ve chosen these because of how wonderful they are.

Purchasing the Starter Kit (to try the nappies) followed by the Full Time Kit (when you have found they are the right nappies for you) will allow you to expand your set, giving a very comfortable number of nappies for full time use.

Wonderoos Kits have minimal packaging to further reduce the waste produced, and are packaged in a fully reusable drawstring bag, suitable for storing used nappies in until washday, so you won’t need a nappy bucket!

Detailed instructions with diagrams and Frequently Asked Questions are included in the kits and all printed material is printed on recycled paper. There are four colour combinations – Boys, Girls, Unisex or White

So here’s to our Eco Babies and it just goes to show that you can ‘Love Your Environment’ at ANY age!!

By popular request we are introducing a children’s Wheelchair Raised Bed. This is 60cm high and should help those with restricted movement of the trunk. These will be called the Kids Wheelchair Raised Beds. Naturally they are just the same as the others with good access; just the surface height of 60cm is more suitable for the lower wheelchairs if they do not have the extra big wheels.

Wheelchair Raised Beds

We will get a picture for the website soon, but if you know anyone who needs them we have them in stock. Adult Wheelchair Raised beds are 75cm high and if you know anyone who would like to talk to us about a specific project they are working on, we would be delighted to talk to them with suggestions amd ideas.

We’ve introduced these products in response to feedback we recieve from our customers so please, please do keep telling us what you’d like from us. We can then work on making it happen!

We have been learning more about a useful product we have been selling for a long time now, The Plug and Grow lamp. It comes with a ‘white light’ of 6400k bulb. Nine out of ten people use this bulb as it simulates the daylight and in Spring and will bring on plants by emulating longer days. The plant will think the sun is higher in the sky than it really is. (We wish we could do that in our office!!).

Plug and Grow Horticultural Light

Anyway we never realised that plants and flowers take up the daylight from a different part of the colour spectrum at different times of the year. So there is an alternative bulb for the Plug and Grow. This is a 2700k bulb and gives daylight from the red end of the spectrum. This stimulates growth and flowering. It’s one for the boffins, but it is also one for the particular, and investigative gardener.

Well you learn something every day & we thought we would share this with you!

North York Gate Summer Festival, recycle works

York Gate FestivalIf you live in the North York Gate Summer Festival will be the top attraction. Toby Buckland will be there on Monday to open the week and there is an interesting array of events all week, including a poetry evening. York Gate Garden, Adel, Leeds and Perennial – the horticulturists’ charity that owns it – are celebrating summer ’09 with a summer festival. York Gate Garden is widely recognised as one of Britain’s most inspirational small gardens and an outstanding example of 20th century garden design.

Other events follow in the week culminating on Saturday 18th July with a Family Fun Day from 11 am to 5 pm. There will be lots to do and see, including a specially designed and created willow labyrinth by one of the garden volunteers, an opportunity for children to work with a professional artist, traditional and more unusual fete games, gardening activities, juggler and balloon artist, jazz band and a chance to meet and learn about reptiles. There will be prizes for the Kid’s Assemble a Compost Bin competition. Competitors usually find that it is so easy they can do it in under 2 minutes. Entry for children is free accompanied by an adult at £3.50, which includes entry to the garden and an opportunity to view and purchase exhibits by local artists. Pay at the gate. In the evening there is a Ceilidh and Hog Roast at 7pm priced £10.

For tickets and details of the other events, phone 0845 6760636 or online at www.perennial.org.uk. Sunday 19th July, Mini Plant Fair 11am to 3 pm. Normal garden admission £3.50 adult, accompanied children free. Talk by Joe Maiden of BBC Radio Leeds 2.30pm £5 including garden admission.

The Garden is located: Back Church Lane, Adel, Leeds, LS16 8PW

FCFCGWondering what to do with bored children in the holidays? Google the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens? A visit will certainly brighten up your day and open your eyes to countless interesting activities and good work going on in the middle of a city.

FCFCG is a registered charity which supports, represents and promotes community-managed farms, gardens, allotments and other green spaces, creating opportunities for local communities to grow. FCFCG works with community groups to help empower local people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to build better communities, often in deprived areas, and to make a positive impact on their surrounding environment.
FCFCG also provides the national face of the community farm and garden movement, promoting its work and raise its profile with decision-makers, funders, the public and the media and their work contributes to creating better communities across the UK in both urban and isolated rural areas. In my experience they welcome visitors, but perhaps you should check their hours first as they are usually run mostly by volunteers.
