If you are taking your Christmas tree down over the next day or so, why not shred it and recycle it in your own garden.

Take a look here for the range of Electric Shredders and Log Splitters available from Recycleworks.

…And if you don’t have a garden, contact your local authority for advice about the recycling schemes that they run.

It’s estimated that every person in the UK produces over 320kg of household waste each year, so every little step we take to recycle can make a big difference!

How many of us have old mobile phones lying around in a drawer, doing absolutely nothing and just collecting dust? I know the team at The Recycle Works collectively have quite a few!

Did you know though that if you send your old mobile to Envirofone, not only will they send you an amount of money for each phone but you’ll also be helping the environment.

You can also choose to give the money you earn to charity as a donation so you can be helping two causes at the same time!

If you’d like to find out more simply click on the logo aboev and folow the really simple process. It won’t cost you anything to do and both you and the environment will end up being better off.

Composting, love your environment, recycling, reduce packaging

recyclenow-logoThere are lots of articles in the press and online at the moment about how the economic downturn has affected the amount of recycling that is being proactively done within the UK. Many commercial companies involved in the recycling industry are having to store their collected items in aircraft hangers and warehouses as the price they can achieve for these items has dropped drastically.

However, this really got me thinking about how I personally recycle and the conclusion that I’ve reached is that I need to do less recycling! Yes that’s right but don’t shout at me yet…. let me explain!

I recycle all my card and paper, lots and lots of it! Surely if I reduced the amount I purchase in the first place or create though, there’d be less that needed to be recycled! Packaging – when I purchase anything from a shop I’m going to buy it loose if its a food item and NOT put it in a bag to then be weighed. I’m waiting for my first home grown produce to be available hence why I’m still shopping for ingredients. I’ve also swapped my canned drinks for water and not bottled I hasten to add!  So not only am I hopefully creating less waste, I should be healthier as well!

There must be so many more things we can all do and surely together we can come up with lots of tips and ideas to help make a difference. So if you ‘Love Your Environment’ email us and let us know what you suggest and we can share all your ideas on the Blog!

Plastic Milk Bottles – Another Recycling Step!

glass, milk bottles, recycling glass

The EM Cleaner is still being used with vigour for all our cleaning tasks but the last time I saw SYlvia, we were talking about the amount of plastic that is being wasted in the world and I suddenly thought that I’m part of theat problem as I always get milk in plastic containers!

So, I’ve made another little step forward I hope as I’ve caught the milk person who visits our village and asked them to deliver our milk in glass bottle form only. I’ll wash them out once used and put them out to be collected instead of doing what I normally do and putting the empty plastic containers in the bin. I’m not sure exactly whata differnece in real terms that will be but surely eliminating 4 or 5 two litre containers each week per year will play its part. Imagine the difference if we all did it?

So have a think about the amount of milk in your home…… could you recycle?
